Function / Content

This series consists of Darwin Town Area Lease files for business and/or residential purposes. The files contain notice of acceptance of purchase at auction, consent to mortgage survey, title search, acquisitions for sewerage easements, memoranda of grant of easement, surrender of lease (form NTA 1055), applications for lease (form NTA 272), inspection reports, applications for grant in fee simple, action sheet for freehold application. Where freehold conversion was approved two diagonal red lines were ruled across the cover with "Grant in Fee simple" written between them. The series was discontinued in 1981 when leasehold of town lands was abolished and those leases converted to freehold.
